Caramel Apple

Pot, Wooden Spoon, Parchment Paper, Chop Sticks or Skewers, Thermometer

    Apples – 5
    Brown Sugar – 1 Cup
Light Corn Syrup – 1/2 Cup
    Unsalted Butter – 2 1/2 Tablespoons
    Heavy Cream – 3/4 Cup
    Salt – 1/4 Teaspoon
    Vanilla – 1/2 Tablespoon

    1. Bring some water to a boil. Pour the water into a bowl and soak each apple for about 10 seconds. Then vigorously dry the apples to wipe off their outer waxy layer.
    2. Stick chop sticks in the top of the apples.
    3. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, cream and salt to a pot and cook on medium heat stirring ingredients until the butter is melted, about 3.5 minutes.
    4. Let the caramel bubble and cook until the temp reaches 235- 240°F, about 8 minutes.
    5. Turn off the heat and add in vanilla.
    6. Let the caramel sit for about 10 minutes until the caramel temp is 190°F.
    7. Dip the apples in the caramel. If the caramel is falling off, dip a second time.
    8. Enjoy these delicious refreshing treats!
