Equipment:
Cutting Board, Knife, Small Bowl, Spoon, Cast Iron Pan/Frying Pan, Cookie Sheet, Large Plate, Paper Towels
Ingredients:
Sweet Potato – 1
Smoked Paprika – 1 Tablespoon
Garlic Salt – 1 Tablespoon
Onion Powder – 1/2 Tablespoon
Pepper – 1/2 Tablespoon
Olive Oil – 1 Teaspoon
Vegetable Oil – About 1/2 Cup (enough to fill the bottom of the pan)
Directions:
- Cut the sweet potato into fries that are 1/2 inch to 1/3 of an inch thick.
- Mix the paprika, garlic salt, onion powder and pepper in a small bowl.
- If you are going to bake the fries preheat the oven to 400 degrees. If not go to step 7.
- Place the fries on a cookie sheet and coat with olive oil and seasoning.
- Bake for 15 minutes on one side and flip the fries and bake for another 10 minutes.
- Let cook and enjoy!
- Put vegetable oil into a cast iron skillet or frying pan to heat up.
- Check to see if the oil is hot enough by placing a small piece of potato into the oil and if it bubbles the oil is ready.
- Add the fries to the oil and cook on each side for 3 minutes. Use the F.D.F.D.S. (fry, dry, fry, fry, season) method only frying the second time for 1 minute on each side so they don’t burn.
- Once you have dried the sweet potato fries add the seasoning.
- Let cool and enjoy!
